Vladas Oržekauskas (b. 1955) is a Lithuanian artist and professor known for digital graphics that combine photography, drawing and digital manipulation. His work transforms familiar objects, landscapes and cultural references into dreamlike compositions, which he has described as “dream fossils.”

Oržekauskas was born in Kaunas on May 13, 1955. He graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 1983 with a degree in interior architecture. From 1986 to 1996 he worked as an art director at the Šviesa publishing house. From 1997 he taught at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, lecturing in computer graphics, visual arts and interdisciplinary contexts. He became head of interdisciplinary art studies at the Kaunas Faculty in 2008 and professor in 2013.

Oržekauskas began exhibiting his work in the 1990s and has developed a practice centred on digital image-making. He combines photographs, drawings and digital graphic editing, often without a predetermined final composition. In his 2022 exhibition Dream Selfies, he described his works as references to things that are familiar but rarely noticed, transforming everyday objects into abstract forms through photography and Photoshop. The resulting images are printed using sublimation onto artificial silk, with each work produced as a unique example.

His work has also explored historical and cultural imagery. The Baroque Man series uses digital graphics to combine visual references from different sources, drawing on the collage-like possibilities of digital manipulation. His Sfumato series of 2013 similarly transformed landscape into atmospheric, abstract compositions rather than direct representations of nature.

Oržekauskas has held solo exhibitions in Lithuania, Poland and Spain and participated in international exhibitions including NordArt in Germany, Art Venice, Art Santa Fe and more recent international art fairs in Miami, New York, Dubai and Amsterdam. He was a resident at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris in 2002, 2009 and 2013. His works are held in the Lithuanian Art Museum and private collections. He lives and works in Vilnius.
